The learners and staff members of the Onaushe Combined School in Oshana region were the proud recipients of Namport’s recent sponsorship. The school, situated in a marginalized area, accommodates majority learners from the San and Ovatjimba community, resulted in the need to approach corporates such as Namport.
The school, which saw an exponential growth from 250 learners to the current 332 learners, was very grateful for the generous donation from Ports Authority. Talking to the Principal, Mr Kalola said that “with this donation we are able to raise the bar on the quality of education offered to our students, and we thank Namport for not hesitating to respond positively to our request”.
The school had been struggling to duplicate important documents such as learning materials for the learners, especially during this time when learners require additional educational material to supplement their classes. With the acquisition of a state of the art copy machine which comes with the price tag of N$45,000.00, the school is now in a better position to make multiple copies in a short span of time.
Namport prides itself of being a friend of the Namibian education sector since the inception of its social investment arm (NSIF) in 2007. The Fund, which remains committed to playing an enabling role within the Namibian community has invested over N$1,816,887.60 during its 2019/20 financial year in the education fraternity.
