Creating a conducive study environment is one of the cornerstones of a successful education system. Such an environment can only be achieved through adequate supply and provision of necessary tools and equipment for our learners to have a fulfilling learning experience.

It is against this background, Namport through its Social Investment Fund (NSIF), recently donated 222 desks and 150 chairs valued at N$150,000.00 to three schools in the Kavango East Region. The schools that benefited from the donation are Sarasungo Combined School, Mbambangandu Junior Primary and Aloys Hashipara Junior Primary. Each school received a number of chairs and desks as per the needs of each receiving school.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr Fanuel Kapapero, Director of Education in Kavango East Region said, investing in education was an investment into the country’s future.

The Ports Authority has always played an active role in supporting the education fraternity across the country since the inception of NSIF in 2006. This commitment was further strengthened in 2017 when Namport joined the Ministry of Education’s "Friends in Education" initiative.

For the past 16 years since the inauguration of NSIF, the Fund has invested over N$40 million to improve the quality of life for all Namibian communities, through various project streams that are in compliance with the Fund’s four strategic pillars of operation, which are education, health, entrepreneurship and environmental sectors.

It is the Ports Authority’s sincere conviction this small gesture will immensely contribute to the quality of education for the Namibian child and this will not be the last stopping point for Namport through its social investment fund.
