Swakopmund / Walvis Bay (er) - The MEATCO slaughterhouse wants to export first-class beef products via the port of Walvis Bay in future. The port authority NamPort has now announced this in writing after both companies signed a corresponding letter of intent (MOU) last Friday. The partnership is said to be beneficial for both companies.

"This agreement will increase our competitiveness as a company and as a country and at the same time increase the attractiveness of MEATCO's products on international markets," said NamPort managing director Andrew Kanime as saying. Beef products are intended for international markets such as the USA, Europe, China, Norway and some parts of Africa and NamPort has secured a direct ship connection to most of these destinations, guaranteeing the shortest transport time.

The "efficient and cost-effective cargo handling" of MEATCO products is highlighted as a particularly important aspect of the agreement. This should be made possible by means of “new possibilities and new technologies”. The agreement also includes various training opportunities and a transfer of skills.
