The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) will welcome new chief executive officer (CEO) Andrew Kanime on 1 November 2020 for the next five years.

Kanime holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), an Honours degree in Accounting and Finance as well as three undergraduate qualifications in the fields of Business Management, Human Resources and Public Administration.

“His broad set of academic qualifications, complemented by the extensive corporate and leadership experience which he has gathered over the years in the banking, telecommunications, broadcasting, energy, transport and logistics sectors, places him in strong stead to steer the Namport ship over the coming years,” the board said.

Kanime is currently employed by the FirstRand Namibia Group as the chief human capital officer.

He has operated at executive management level for over 17 years and has also held several senior management positions and directorships, which inter alia, include being the acting director general at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

He presently serves as a non-executive director of NamPower and just retired from the NBC board. He also served on the board of Namport for nine years, during which period he developed a strong understanding of, and experience within, the transport and logistics industry.

“As Namport, we pledge our support to him and are confident that with his immense knowledge and experience, we will continue on our course to make Namport and Namibia the gateway of choice into the region and beyond,” the Namport board said.

Kavin Harry, the executive for finance, was the acting CEO after Bisey Uirab joined the Namibia Airports Company.
