The Namibian Ports Authority yesterday responded positively to the plight of our men and women in uniform who will be responsible for manning the nations’ roadblocks during the festive season which has already started. The Ports Company made a donation of 42 cases of water to ensure that the officers are refreshed whilst diligently executing their duties at the Swakopmund/ Walvis Bay roadblock.
Speaking to Chief Inspector Patrick Muhita during the handover he said that Namport is the fourth company to join in as a sponsor for this festive period. He further added that initiatives of this nature serve as tokens of encouragement to the officers as they usually work long hours.
The roadblock which operates from the Yanni Savva Police Station will conduct operations focusing on roadworthiness of vehicles, driver fitness as well as general vehicle inspection.
Partners in road safety launched the annual festive road safety campaign which runs from 18 November 2019 until 15 January 2020 as a way to inculcate a road safety culture in all road users.
Namport hereby wishes to take this opportunity to wish everyone a blessed festive season and safe travels.
