The Walvis Bay Port Users Association also handed over a certificate of appreciation to Namport.

Volumes through the port of Walvis Bay are continuing to grow since the opening of the new container terminal. According to Kavin Harry, acting chief executive officer of the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), there was 19% growth in container exports and a 33% increase in TEUs landed during the month of September compared to September 2018. Harry was speaking at the annual port users’ function and prize-giving. The top five revenue-based clients were Maersk Namibia, Woker Freight Services, Trade Ocean Shipping Namibia, Logistics Support Services and Sturrock Grindrod Maritime (Namibia). The top three volume-based clients were Walvis Bay Salt Refiners, Engen and Puma Energy Namibia. In his speech Harry called on all port users to help promote the use of the harbour. The investment in the new container terminal “requires us as an entity, with your cooperation, to promote our port to overseas potential investors in order to ensure that Namibia, through the port, becomes the port of choice". – Ed Richardson
