The Namibian Ports Authority (NAMPORT) is considering signing an agreement with the Ports Authority of Jamaica to increase efficiency.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness and NAMPORT Chief Executive Officer Bisey Uirab held a meeting in Walvis Bay Tuesday, to discuss the possibility of such an arrangement.

Holness explained that multi-billion dollar investments had been made in expanding Jamaica's main port in Kingston.
The Jamaican premier said the rate and space in which to handle cargo and accommodate major vessels is another priority.
If an agreement is signed, Holness assured Namport that the experience it needs to achieve efficiency will be shared.
Uirab said NAMPORT is working on expanding the port and enhancing efficiency as well as ensuring that the port can handle major vessels.
Apart from logistics, Uirab said tourism is another area of interest that can be marketed if the two countries collaborate.
He said large companies in the sector can market the Caribbean and SADC regions, as destinations and sell packages to big passenger vessels calling at the ports.
Holness extended an invitation to the Erongo political leadership and business community to visit Jamaican ports.
