Mr Andrew Kanime, CEO of Namport leading by example

Namport staff members from the Port of Walvis Bay collected 65 pairs of school shoes valued at N$9,990.00 during the month of February as part of celebrating the month of love. The initiative was recommended by a Namport staff member previously employed at the Omhanda Combined School, Eenhana Circuit situated a rural area in Ohangwena Region.

Namport employees did not hesitate to dig deep into their own pockets for this important and much needed drive. The 65 pairs of shoes, pairs of socks and cash donation will ensure that we have happy feet within our education system. "This project forms part of an extension of our values as a Ports Authority which are Connected, Caring, Collaboration, Creative and Committed", said Mr Andrew Kanime, CEO of Namport.

Last year, Namport staff members from both the Port of Walvis Bay and Port of Lüderitz held a similar initiative and collected canned food in support of the World Food Day programme celebrated annually on 16 October. Namport handed over 520 food cans to Honorable Neville Andre, Governor of the Erongo region as part of the Authority’s contribution to Namibian communities by supporting governmental initiatives.

Due to the success and impactful results of both initiatives, Namport has decided to make both drives an annual occurrence as the entity continues to live out its corporate values within the community.
