Procedures and Conditions
1. Before commencing with any cutting, welding and grinding, contact Namport's Security & Emergency Services Department.
2. The Fire Officer to do a physical inspection of the vessel and section of the vessel where work is to be performed.
3. The Fire Officer to check for the following:
(a) Type of work to be performed.
(b) Section of vessel the work is to be performed in.
(c) Location of fuel tanks.
(d) Location of flammable storage facilities.
(e) Insulation material
(f) Other flammable material
(g) Is a gas free certificate necessary.
(h) Will ventilation be sufficient
(i ) Is running water available.
(j) The correct type and quantity of fire extinguisher posted.
(k) Is a Fire Watch posted, with the relevant personal protective equipment.
4. If the Fire Officer is satisfied with all the preparations, he issues the permit.
5. The hot work to be done strictly according to the conditions as stipulated.
6. This hot work permit is issued strictly for the work as requested on that specific section of the vessel, and for the duration as stipulated.
7. This permit must be kept on site during the entire process, and must be produced to a Namport Fire Officer, on request.
8. The Namport Fire Officer must at regular intervals, do inspections during the process.
9. The Namport Fire Officer may at any time decide to post a Namport Fire Watch to monitor the process.
10. This permit is valid for only 7 days and less and must be reapplied after expiry if required.
