PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To perform all general work duties pertaining to cargo handling services and operations. The role reports directly to the Supervisor: General Cargo Operations.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Execute general cargo handling operational support duties.
- Perform safe and timeous loading and offloading of cargo and storage handling support.
- Keep assigned materials, tools and equipment safe.
- Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the work environment.
- Adhere to safety, health and quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Six (6) months’ relevant experience in port/terminal operations cargo handling activities.
- Basic cargo handling knowledge and safety awareness.
- Strong physical ability to handle cargo and cargo handling equipment accessories.
- Sound communication and team relations.
- Strong time management and adherence to achieving set operational efficiency targets.
- Medically and physically fit.
- Safety, health, environment and quality conscious.
- A valid code B/BE driving license will be an added advantage.
