INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT - This opportunity is open to current Namport employees only. 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To transport, load and offload cargo within designated port areas. The role reports directly to the Supervisor: General Cargo Operations

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Perform daily safety checks on haulage and mechanical lifting equipment.
• Operate mechanical lifting stacking equipment.
• Transport cargo within the port facility or terminal, ensuring proper handling and placement according to specified instructions.
• Consistently maintain maximum levels of cargo handling equipment productivity in categories 5 and 4 (all size forklifts and terminal tractors/ haulers).
• Operate safely and efficiently, always ensuring smooth movement of the cargo for safe operation.
• Assist with the cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and making repairs, as necessary.
• Account for related administration and reporting duties.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Two (2) years’ relevant experience, which should include forklift driving experience of all sizes (3 to 32-ton forklifts).
• A valid code BE driving license.
• A higher Code driving licence will be an added advantage.
• Sound time management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and under constant pressure.
• Sound customer and team relations.
• Good decision making, judgement and communication skills.
