PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To operate Reach Stackers by moving and placing cargo in designated port areas. The role reports directly to the Supervisor: General Cargo Operations.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Perform daily safety checks on mechanical/lifting/stacking equipment.
- Operate the Reach Stackers.
- Operate safely and efficiently, always ensuring smooth movement of the cargo for safe operation.
- Perform data capturing in VMTs.
- Assist with the cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance of mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and making repairs, as necessary.
- Consistently maintain maximum levels of Reach Stacker productivity.
- Perform AD-HOC duties as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Three (3) years’ relevant experience, preferably with Reach Stackers and/or Mechanical Lifting and Stacking equipment.
- A valid code CE driving license.
- Sound time management and problem-solving skills.
- Remain professional and composed in high pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and under constant pressure.
- Sound customer and team relations.
- Good decision making, judgement and communication skills.
