PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To execute emergency response plans within a designated area or jurisdiction. The role plays a critical
function in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Namport community by developing, implementing,
and overseeing emergency preparedness plans and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for incident
response, collaborating with various stakeholders and providing guidance during crises to mitigate risks
and minimize the impact of emergencies, disasters, or hazardous incidents. The position reports directly to
the Senior Emergency Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Grade 12 Certificate (20+ points).
• Fire Fighting 1 [FF1] Certificate or Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 1.
• National Certificate (NQF 4) in Fire Management or Fire Technology/ Disaster Risk Reduction or IFE level 3.
• Three (3) years’ experience in a fire fighting or emergency response environment.
• Code C Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of emergency equipment, fire systems, operations, and procedures.
• Knowledge hazard and medical evacuation.
• Knowledge of Industrial Fire Fighting.
• High level of awareness and ability to act accordingly.
• Physical strength and fitness.
• Discipline, reliable, honest and ethical.
