PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To account for and oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, and supplies within Namport. This role ensures that inventory levels are accurately and timely maintained, stock is properly handled and stored, and all materials management processes comply with relevant company policies and safety standards. The incumbent plays a critical role in minimizing costs while maximizing productivity and profitability for the realisation of operational priorities and organisational goals. The position reports directly to the Manager: Procurement.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
▪Supervise daily store activities, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, and issuing of materials.
▪Enforce inventory control practices including cycle counts, FIFO/FEFO, and variance resolution.
▪Oversee inspection of incoming materials for quality, quantity, and specification compliance.
▪Ensure timely documentation, labelling, and system updates for all received goods.
▪Supervise correct binning and issuing of materials, ensuring logical layout and accessibility.
▪Maintain accurate records of issued items and prevent unauthorized access to stock.
▪Provide inventory reports and usage trends to support procurement and demand planning.
▪Track supplier delivery performance, quality issues, and purchase order cycle times.
▪Enforce 5S housekeeping and safety protocols across all storage areas.
▪Oversee disposal of expired or damaged items and promote a clean, hazard-free environment.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
▪A Bachelor’s degree [NQF Level 7] in Logistics and Supply Chain, Warehousing, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
▪An Honours degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, or a related field will be considered an added advantage.
▪Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in materials management, inventory control, or stock administration, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
▪Certification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is an added advantage.
▪Hands-on experience with SAP Materials Management (MM) module is an added advantage.
▪Valid Code B Driver’s Licence.
▪Strong leadership, team supervision, and accountability skills.
▪High attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
▪Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in operational environments
