PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, operate and maintain all marine engineering assets of Namport through effective repair and maintenance duties of floating craft for organisational success. The incumbent plays a crucial role in accounting for all marine engineering and electrical equipment maintenance aboard Namport floating craft and for building positive stakeholder relations to deliver optimum value, for organisational success. The position heads the Marine Operations section at the Port of Lüderitz and reports directly to the Superintendent: Marine Engineering.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Supervision and control over all marine and electrical equipment aboard Namport floating crafts at the port.
• Monitoring of and control over maintenance to engineering, electrical equipment during layup.
• Ensure team leadership and performance optimisation.
• Administrative management, reporting and compliance.
• Provide bridge assistance.
• Adhere to safety, health and quality standards.
• Ensure customer satisfaction.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Valid Certificate of Competence (COC) issued by state signatory to and recognised as a STCW 95 state as a 2nd Engineer Officer above 3000kw in terms of Regulation 111/3 of the convention or superior STCW certificate (Class 2) or Chief Engineer Port Operations ≤ 3000Kw.
• Minimum five (5) years approved seagoing experience of which not less than 24 months shall have been served as a 2nd Engineer Officer in a position of responsibility as per STCW 95 convention on a sea going vessel.
• Relationship building and customer service orientation.
• Excellent communication, analytical skills with problem-solving orientation.
• Strong attention to details and deadlines.
• Resource and project management skills.
• Code BE driver’s license.
